BECOME A LIFESAVER...LEARN CPR!

Please contact HealthSav©, which is an American Heart Association Training Center,  to register or just click on the CPR class you want (look at monthly schedules) and it will take you to the registration form.  All classes require e mail pre-registration.  Don't forget to indicate the class you want in the comments section of the registration form.  Classes listed are held at the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps building at 160 Route 9W in Haverstraw NY.  HealthSav© will also come to your location to conduct any CPR class of your choice.  Group rates are available so host a CPR class in your home for family, friends & neighbors.   Have a "CPR Party."   Get 6 and be the 7th for free!!!

The need for the non professional rescuer to learn CPR is crucial.  CPR, if not begun within the first 3-5 minutes, will generally be unable to help resuscitate the victim.  If people near a person struck with Cardiac Arrest can jump in and help, CPR along with a defibrillator will help save many more lives lives.  HealthSav© will teach you how to do this properly and in ways that make it safe for you, the rescuer, to feel comfortable to jump in and help.  We will also alleviate your possible fears about legal action.  Learn about Good Samaritan Laws.

The numbers are staggering.  Over 1000 people die every day in the United States from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  If we can double the number of lay people that learn CPR and know how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)  by 2010 it could save an additional 40,000 lives a year.  That is an incredible statistic.

Now HealthSav© has an R.I.D. Certified Sign Language Interpreter available for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Please let us know well in advance if you would like us to arrange to have these these services for you.

CPR IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS

Please try to attend a CPR training course
1. CALL

Check the victim for unresponsiveness.  If there is no response, Call 911 and return to the victim. In most locations the emergency dispatcher can assist you with CPR instructions.

2. BLOW

Tilt the head back and listen for breathing.  If not breathing normally, pinch nose and cover the mouth with yours (pocket safety devices can be obtained through HealthSav) and blow until you see the chest rise. Give 2 breaths.  Each breath should take 1 second.

3. PUMP

If the victim is still not breathing normally, coughing or moving, begin chest compressions.  Push down on the chest 1.5 to 2 inches 30 times right between the nipples.  Pump at the rate of 100/minute, faster than once per second.

CONTINUE WITH 2 BREATHS AND 30 PUMPS UNTIL HELP ARRIVES
NOTE: This ratio is the same for one-person & two-person CPR.  In two-person CPR the person pumping the chest stops while the other gives mouth-to-mouth breathing.
